Stories

A first rehearsal. A part that matters. A team that notices when you are missing. A moment onstage that once felt impossible. Artist and family stories make the experience tangible — they show how young people describe changes in their confidence, relationships, and sense of belonging.

A stage. A vision. And two years later.

In 2023, Hudson Barlow sat in the audience at Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center. His mom leaned over and said, “Sit here and visualize yourself playing up there one day.”

Thanks to an opportunity provided by the Sound Support Foundation, two years later he wasn’t in the audience anymore. He was on stage, performing two sold-out sets at that very same club with the Crescent Super Band.

Today, Hudson is headed to New York once again. This time as a scholarship recipient at NYU.

“This is what performance does. It turns possibility into reality and gives young musicians the belief that they belong on the world’s biggest stages.” — Tommie Chapman, Co-Founder
